I was recently writing a letter to a friend and realized there was a stunning message in my letter – for me. Something so simple. Yet, so profound. Here is what I wrote.

”Our winter has been piercingly cold. But there are reminders of God’s love everywhere. And the promise of spring. Dependable things coming again. Warmth. Flowers. Fresh new life.

That word – “fresh.” The Lord laid it on my heart today. Fresh is special. Who wants stale bread?! Old water is yucky! We all like fresh linens. Fresh flowers. A freshly washed face and hair. Fresh words from God. Fresh touches of friendship.

Fresh! And Jesus reminded me of “fresh faith” today. Not yesterday’s stagnant faith. That was fresh for yesterday. Not the stale stuff that got me through past years. That faith was fresh back then – and valuable. Not that good faith from the past. But new faith. Fresh supply from the Source. Fresh living bread. Re-freshing, living water. Fresh provision for a new day and a new set of problems. Fresh faith in the same faithful God who promises our losses and trials are a stage on which He can display His fresh love. New every morning.

The force that tips the first barrier in our current scenario and starts a domino effect of our issues falling into God’s power and love . . . that force is our tiny fresh faith.

“With man, these things are impossible. But with God – ALL things are possible!” (Jesus – Mt. 19:26)

Let’s “do” fresh together!”

 . . . That’s what I wrote to my friend.

Fresh faith means need. Yes, it takes need to seek provision. A need pushes you toward seeking a solution. It gets you doing what humans do – solving problems with creative energy and available resources. God designed you this way.

Fresh faith also means supply. It takes energy and work to take ownership and manage your life, but you need a good supply of excellent resources. God always has resources for you. He gives new answers for new seasons. Additional options for issues. Provisions. He gives comfort, peace, wisdom, and companionship.

A grateful heart gets your rhythm back. Thankfulness looks into the past – remembering all God has done. “Seek His face always. Remember the wonders He has done.” (Ps. 105:5) Thankfulness looks at today – stimulating a fresh heartbeat of eager expectation for God’s involvement in big and small daily situations. Thankfulness looks into the future with confidence in the God who gives you power to live your life inside His loving kindness.

Humility enables you to cry out for His help. Swallow self-sufficiency. With (even tiny) faith, topple that first obstacle into the domino effect by bringing every concern into His safe keeping. Humbly trust His fresh ways. Align your heart directly under His. God’s powerful heart beat keeps your heart beating.

Desire. How good to desire God. How right to desire His blessings. How wise to desire your original design. Go after right relationship with God. Put – and keep – Him first in your heart. Desire good for your life, and others’ lives. Desire the world to be restored. This takes fresh faith.

. . . That’s what God riveted into my own heart.

The God of yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. He never changes. Always dependable, faithful, loving, good. He is powerful and involved in this world and your life. And He always – always – ALWAYS rewards fresh faith. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Heb. 13:8) God calls Himself “I Am.” He is always . . . fresh. His mercies are always . . . fresh. His love is always . . . for you . . . fresh!

 . . . That’s what I want to share with you.

Fresh Faith.
