Easter week is right around the corner. People love to celebrate with joyful traditions, activities, reflections, and food. This week, for a Christian, is the highest pinnacle of celebration (possibly second only to Christmas). We call this special week Holy Week.
Easter is set in the very birth of spring for much of the world. New green buds appear. Early spring blossoms peek. The sun’s warmth and light gently radiate into your heart. Bird songs fill the air with joy. The long cold is ending as new life emerges once again.
Celebrations often involve a traditional Easter Lily. Coloring and decorating eggs. Bright clothing to wear. Perhaps a bonnet or bow tie. Easter baskets are hunted.
These lovely things, and more, remind of God’s love. His intervention. The need for the cross. God made His desire known for intimate fellowship with you. He invites you into eternal life each day.
People need a Savior. Jesus volunteered and stepped in. He became the God-man because God cares about His people who were stuck in winter. For centuries, hope hung from an icicle. Joy was a frozen mist. Peace seemed like thin ice.
The Bible says – God loves you. He values your life. God also cares about His creation. He declared His intentions: “Behold, I am making everything new!” (Rev. 21:5) Jesus’ faithful life, death, and resurrection secures everything. Sin debt is paid for. Death is conquered. Hope is reborn. Joy peeks through even sorrow because of Jesus. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever which means you can depend on Him for everything in your life. (Heb. 13:8) He exercises great mercy and patience. (2 Pet. 3:9)
GOOD NEWS! Intentional Living is hosting a special Easter Holy Week on-line devotional. It’s called “Take A Tiny Moment To Prepare For Easter.” You can use this FREE resource to increase your focus and the impact of Easter. The devotional features brief, meaningful daily posts with 2 focuses:
- MEDITATION THOUGHT – a short reflective thought to help prepare your heart for Easter.
- TRADITION ACTIVITY IDEA – fun activity you can do with your family and/or friends to celebrate Easter. Children will love the activities. Each day has a “Teaching Point” to focus on.
The sessions start on Monday following Palm Sunday. Meditation topics are very brief, loaded with encouraging thoughts and Scriptures.
- Monday – Sacrifice
- Tuesday – High Priest
- Wednesday – Lover of Your soul
- Thursday – Intervener
- Good Friday – Intercessor
- Saturday – Interconnector
- Easter Sunday – Resurrection
The activities are FUN to participate in. They provide ideas for crafts, foods, story-telling, decorating. You can do them yourself, in a group, or with your family. It’s an opportunity to engage your children or grandchildren.
Also included is a BONUS TOOL – “When You Run Out of Ideas of Where to Hide An Easter Basket.”
I invite you to join and simply Take A Tiny Moment To Prepare For Easter.
P.S. – I want to tell you about a great resource I found. Several companies make this. You can order now for an activity featured on Day #3 (Wed). Kids love Resurrection Eggs because they tell the Easter story with a little surprise in each egg. You might find a better price than this set. Shop around. A local Christian book store might have them in stock. My children and grandchildren have enjoyed these eggs as they reflect on the story of Easter.
