Words For Weary Warriors

God calls each person into their own path – a unique and special path with a promise He will walk with you. Over the long-haul, life is pretty challenging. The good is side-by-side with the hard stuff. Jesus said, “In this world, you will have troubles – but take heart. I have overcome the world.” (Jn. 16:33) This promise brings explanation and comfort in hard seasons. There are times in your every day life that you start to feel like a weary warrior.

The culmination of life stresses can be mountainous. Perhaps you feel discouraged standing alone for what is right. Maybe you grow weary as you often draw a line in the sand. Although resolved, you may feel tired as you run a strong race. Do you feel lonely trying to do the right thing yet again? Perhaps you have been misunderstood and misjudged.  This all takes a toll on your heart. Unbelievably, sometimes people grow cold toward you for no known reason. It’s hard when you see few results after pouring out everything you have. And then – you feel you are living in a war zone! If you are a tired and weary warrior, the Lord has words for you. –

Jesus’ Words For Weary Warriors

“I am with you in your troubles and trials. I know all about them and will keep My promises to you. Stay in My Word. It is power!

I AM with you. I will never leave you or forsake you. Pause throughout your day to come to Me . . . rest in Me. A weary warrior needs rest. Seek My face. Face to face implies close, comfortable relationship. A weary warrior needs a close friend. I will shepherd you through all your troubles and trials. I will help you through your difficulties. A weary warrior needs a good leader.

You struggle not with flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities. This is war! And you are on the front line. I have prepared you for years – painstakingly training you – pushing you past your personal comfort zone and resources. Be courageous and confident in My training now that you are in the field. Yet, always remember I am with you.

My child, keep developing godly character. Life warriors have integrity. As you accept My assignment, you will gain great reward. You don’t see all I’m doing, but I’m working in unseen dimensions continually. In fact, you will be astonished some day when I show you the whole picture.

When the struggle becomes more than you can bear, circumstances are perfect for utter dependence on My resources, My goodness, and My love. When you are at the end of yourself, you are at the beginning of God. This is the place where you find miracles, comfort, companionship, power, and peace. Overwhelming difficulties force you to hope in Me. My miraculous power brings good out of evil.

I Believe in You

I believed you when you fervently prayed that you would do anything for Me. Declaring your intentions and love for Me gives you memory of words of commitment. Because I created human memory, I wanted your own words of commitment to play in your brain. Your own words, along with My Word, can help you, weary warrior. I know you – inside-out. As you remain in Me, I trust you with My work. That’s why you are on the front line in this war. You are giving a voice to My faithfulness – by your faithfulness.

My Part in Your War

My approach to war with the enemy: not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit. You see, I know exactly what strategies work in each scenario to overcome the enemy. Nothing escapes My attention or surprises Me.

  1. Stay close to Me.
  2. Listen for My voice and trust Me.
  3. Obey Me in the small and great things.
  4. Rejoice in all things.

I will do the rest. Contrary to the enemy’s slander of My name and character – I’ve got this! In fact, if you do your portion in this partnership, you will be amazed.

Remain in Me and rest.
The battle is Mine!
I always have a plan.
I AM the Extraordinary Strategist.
I AM also your Good Shepherd, little sheep.
And I love you forever!

 – Jesus.

God Purposefully Picks You

Do you remember that funny scene in Shrek? The donkey is behind a group of people in a crowd. Shrek is going to choose a companion. And as Shrek considers his options, all you see is the donkey jumping up – over and over in the background. You don’t see him – and then you do! Over and over. As he jumps high enough to be seen above the group, he’s yelling something – “Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!” Interestingly, all people feel this way at times. Subsequently, it’s noteworthy and meaningful to remember God purposefully picks you.

So what does “Pick me!” really look like? Let’s explore together. Read More …
